We’re asking you to consider signing a letter advocating for better facilities planning in Vancouver. Here’s why:
- This month, the Vancouver Board of Education is set to vote on a Long Rang Facilities Plan (LRFP) that will lay out a plan for how they'll use their facilities over the next ten years.
- Information from this plan is used to prioritize schools for seismic upgrades and, in the event of budget constraints, could be used to identify schools for possible closure or consolidation.
- We think there are significant gaps in the plan.
- We think the School Board and the Ministry of Education should take an approach that seeks to help all existing schools thrive.
- The Facilities Committee will be discussing the LRFP at their meeting on May 15th, and School Board Trustees will be discussing then voting on the plan at the Board meeting on May 27th - we need to get this to them well before then!
If you are so moved, you can also write your own email to those folks that includes information more specific to the benefits Templeton brings to the community. Find out more about what Templeton brings.
We also encourage parents to attend the last meeting of the Facilities Committee on May 15 and the Board meeting on May 27 at which the Board will vote on the LRFP:
